Creation
At first, there is nothing to observe from above
Only sea, rocking swaying, swelling, crashing  
suddenly chaos hot vibrant sweltering madding
change is coming wrecking moving undoing
 
Waves tossed into the air a million margherita pizzas
Up and up and up comes the Earth from molten lava
Forming almost immediately the ground forever
An Island soon to be tropical paradise for animals
 
The ocean does not know in advance of how or when
It must move into formation to facilitate the birth
Of a nation and neither do we. Transformation comes
Violently and without advance planning.
 
Creation is messy and lovely and fascinating.
It does not promise itself meek and forgiving
Change does not give closure, she uses pain
To close our wounds and love to heal the shame.
 
For what if God loves the thin grey wispy clouds
and bold orange thundering ones just the same?
Change, an explosive part of this human thing
destroying the old to begin new again.
