Acrylic and mixed media on canvas 12" x 9 ". Description: The artist has used dried petals, Swarovski crystals, a purple swirl pattern, and battery operated lights to explore feminine energy. This piece speaks about using feminine qualities such as softness and tenderness to manage change.
This art piece comes with the accompanying ekphrasis poem, Change Came by Stefani Alzati.
Change Came
Change came and carried me past the sea
To a secluded white sand beach to meet
Aphrodite. It was whispered she was first seen
In all her beauty, on the sea
floating on the top of rose petals
so gentle were her feet
Soft and subtle roses light enough
To carry hopes and whispers and dreams
Across the cosmos and tough enough to withstand them
Each rose petal does not compare to the next
Coy teases of blushing pink or sun kissed red
Grown tenderly in optimal conditions
Careful and deliberate pruning when no longer fit
How terrifying change and its winds
Can cut through the fissures of our best laid plans
Never unaccompanied, rose pedals softy dance
In the air in times of change, signaling hope
They called Aphrodite vain for helping herself
For loving herself and it was them who added shame
I wonder, who it was from where those stories came?
Aphrodite, teach me how to love myself
So that I can take the reins of change and sustain.
